A Five Choirs Concert for Christine

Five hundred fans packed St James’ Parish Church on the cool evening of Saturday May 19th 2012 in recognition of the incomparable contribution Chris Best has made to the musical life of Weybridge for so many years.  Her dedicated work with the five choirs on show merited this grand showcase and nothing less than supreme performances would testify to the high standards she has always expected.  The buzz as all found their seats (queues having formed a good hour earlier) was palpable - a sense that something very special lay ahead and the glossy programme promised as much

A Weekend in Sheffield

September 2010

To get our Autumn season off to a splendid start the choir headed northwards to meet up for a sing and a jar or two with our old friends of Worrall Male Voice Choir. The occasion was particularly special because Worrall are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year and invited us to join them in Sheffield Cathedral for a celebratory joint concert which also included New Mill Male Voice Choir and guest contralto soloist Kathryn McAdam.

Standing Ovation - Irish eyes were smiling!

Over the weekend of 20th to 23rd October 2011 the Weybridge Male Voice Choir was invited by the Waterford Male Voice Choir to join them in Ireland for a feast of singing and conviviality.  Billed as a return match for Waterford’s very successful visit to Weybridge in 2009, thirty six choir members and an equal number of wives and supporters were delighted to accept … and how glad they were that they had done so.   Picture Gallery HERE

90th Anniversary Celebration - sellout!

Our sell-out 90th Anniversary Concert on 1st October 2011 was a huge success, when a capacity audience braved the unseasonably warm temperatures to enjoy the entertaining repartee of Ed (Stewpot') Stewart introducing the choir in full song under the spirited leadership of Christine Best, plus the delightful singing of Kathryn McAdam, accompanied by Jennifer Miles.  The programme also included items with guest conductor spots from Malcolm Singer, President of the choir and Ed Pepper, deputy conductor. 'Stewpot' also joined the choir for the final encore piece!

Comments such as " A great success", "An excellent choir" and "Never sung better"  were heard from audience members enjoying a celebratory drink with the choir afterwards and ultimate proof of their enjoyment of the evening perhaps lies in the fact that £950 was raised in the retiring collection for the Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge.  Thank you for your generosity.
