100 Male Voices Support Crisis This Christmas100 male voices from five different male voice choirs sing the piece 'Anthem', from the musical, 'Chess' all to raise money for Crisis this Christmas. Each singer recorded themselves at home and sent it in to be put together with all of the others. Although you will only hear about 4 mins of music, this process has taken hundreds of hours to put together! All of the choirs are from the South East of England apart from Melbourne Welsh who are from down under! Choirs haven't been able to rehearse together for over nine months now so to hear exactly 100 singers perform together from different choirs in this collaboration is extremely emotional for them. This whole project is raising funds for Crisis (https://www.crisis.org.uk). If you have enjoyed this performance then please consider donating towards our JustGiving page by following this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundrais... Crisis do amazing work across the UK and help people directly out of homelessness whilst campaigning for the changes needed to solve it altogether. The music was written by Tim Rice, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and the male voice choir arrangement is by Haydn James. Weybridge Male Voice Choir Sing Coldplay VirtuallyThe Weybridge MVC have been practicing every Tuesday on Zoom for the past five months. As well as keeping our current repertoire ticking over we have learnt a completely new piece. This piece is When I Need A Friend by Coldplay and arranged by our Musical Director, Jonathan Kilhams. We have never sung this piece together in person but can't wait to get back to some form of normality soon. This is the best we can offer at the moment which we hope you enjoy. We also hope you are all well, wherever you are in the world and send our best wishes to you and your families during this time. Suicide is the biggest killer for men under the age of 45 and is the cause of 18 deaths a day in the UK. Our fundraising will hopefully raise awareness and help those in need. Weybridge MVC Sing For Shooting Star! The Weybridge Male Voice Choir is used to fundraising for charities of many kinds and in a typical year we might have 20 or more fund raising concerts. But 2020 is far from a typical year. Rather than remain silent we have embarked upon our second virtual performance with Can’t Help Falling in Love, a piece that the Choir has already recorded in readiness for our centenary year in 2021 and arranged specially by our very own Musical Director, Jonathan Kilhams. Member recorded their singing as individuals to a soundtrack that keeps everybody in time. If you look closely you will see all the singers wearing headphones as they listen to the music. In keeping with our fund raising endeavours we are linking with the charity Shooting Star Chase. Along with many other organisations that depend on donations and fund raising support they are struggling through this lockdown period. Fund raising events such as our concerts are still some way off which means that charities like Shooting Star Chase will continue to struggle for some time to come. As they strive for funding so their support for children’s hospices, children and young people with life limiting conditions and the supporting families of those children will be under threat. If you have enjoyed our singing please consider making a donation to Shooting Star Chase using the Just Giving link provided. It would help them, help the children they support and help us as Weybridge Male Voice Choir to feel that we can still support our community during these challenging times. Marchioness Tribute performed live by The Weybridge Male Voice Choir20th August, 2019 - 30 years on... 30 years ago yesterday was the Marchioness disaster which saw 51 people die as a result of two vessels colliding in the early hours of the morning on the river Thames. The average age of the people on board was 22! Last night we came together and performed the first two verses of a setting of Tennyson's poem, 'Crossing The Bar' in memory of all those who lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost someone. Crossing The Bar Words by Tennyson, Music by Rani Arbo Arrangement by Jonathan Kilhams Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Performance in St. James' Church, Weybridge.
