No formal audition is required. We invite new members to attend rehearsals and see how they feel. After a few weeks there may be a relaxed and informal voice check, simply to help place you in the right section of the choir.

Do I have to audition?

I dont think I can sing. Can I still join?

2

This is one of the most common concerns we hear. Most people can sing more than they realise, and confidence grows very quickly in a supportive group environment. If you can hold a tune and enjoy singing, that is a great place to start.

A minimum age of 18 with no upper age limit. Our members range widely in age and background. As long as you enjoy singing and can attend rehearsals, you will be very welcome.

What voice parts do you sing?

4

We sing in traditional four part male voice harmony. These are Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone and Bass. The Musical Director will help you find the part that best suits your voice.

Do I need to be able to read music to join?

5

No. Many of our members do not read music fluently. While it can be helpful, it is not essential. Everything can be learned by listening, repetition, and support from fellow singers and the Musical Director.

When and where do you rehearse?

6

We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 8pm to 10pm at St James’ Parish Centre in Weybridge. Rehearsals are friendly, focused and enjoyable, with a short break included.

There is no upper age limit. Our members range widely in age and background. As long as you enjoy singing and can attend rehearsals, you will be very welcome.

Do I have to take part in every concert?

9

No. While we encourage members to take part as much as possible, we understand that work, family and other commitments sometimes come first.

Yes. Members pay a subscription which helps cover the running costs of the choir, including rehearsal space, music, and professional musical leadership. Details of current fees can be provided on request.

10

Is there a membership fee?

Our repertoire is wide ranging and continually evolving. It includes sacred and spiritual works, popular opera choruses, traditional songs and ballads, musical theatre, classical pieces and well known contemporary music.

What are Come and Join Us evenings?

13

These are relaxed, informal evenings held several times a year for anyone interested in trying male voice singing. There is no pressure and no commitment. Just come along, sing with us, and see if it is for you.

What do members get out of joining?

14

As well as high quality music making, members enjoy friendship, camaraderie, confidence building, and the shared experience of performing together. Many also value the sense of purpose that comes from raising funds for good causes.
