Our story

Founded in 1921, the Weybridge Male Voice Choir is proud to be celebrating over 100 years of music making. What began as a small group of enthusiastic singers has grown into a choir of around sixty members, united by a shared love of singing and performance.

Based in Weybridge, Surrey, our members come from a wide area and from all walks of life. We have built an enduring reputation for performance quality and engaging, uplifting concerts. We regularly perform across the South East, raising funds for a wide range of local and national charities, and we have also travelled extensively, taking part in concerts, festivals and competitions throughout the UK and overseas.

Repertoire

Our repertoire is wide ranging and continually evolving, spanning sacred and spiritual works, popular opera choruses, traditional songs and ballads, musical theatre, classical pieces and well known contemporary music. Everything we perform is delivered in the rich, spine tingling four part harmony that defines traditional male voice choral singing.

We sing more than forty songs from memory, including Baba Yetu, The Lord’s Prayer, Africa, The Sound of Silence, Wonderwall, Fascinating Rhythm, In the Mood, Somebody to Love, and In My Life.

Fundraising

The choir can be booked to perform fundraising concerts for charities and organisations. In addition to our own Spring, Summer and Christmas concerts in Weybridge and the surrounding area, we perform around a dozen concerts each year for local charities, churches and community groups.

If you would like to organise a concert for your organisation, please contact our Concert Secretary, Ian Thomas, at concerts@weybridgemvc.org.uk.

Musical Leadership

The choir is led by Musical Director Johnny Kilhams and accompanied by Tom Kelsey. We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 8pm to 10pm at St James’ Parish Centre in Weybridge. New members are always welcome, and we hold Come and Join Us evenings several times each year for anyone interested in giving male voice singing a try.
